78-year-old woman dies in Vancouver collision

VANCOUVER Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Sunday, December 24 around noon at the intersection of Cambie and Dunsmuir streets. A total of seven people were taken to hospital. One person did not survive.

A red Hyundai sedan was travelling north on Cambie Street and began making a left turn onto Dunsmuir Street when it collided with a southbound grey Nissan Pathfinder. The five passengers of the Hyundai, all family members, were taken to hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious. A 78-year-old woman in the back seat died at hospital.

The two occupants of the Pathfinder were taken to hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

Officers from the Vancouver Police’s Collision Investigations Unit are working to determine what may have caused the collision. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors. This is Vancouver’s 12th fatal collision of 2017.
