Vancouver Police urge driver to come forward in fatal hit-and-run

VANCOUVER Police are appealing to the driver involved in a hit-and-run collision that claimed the life of a pedestrian on Thursday morning to come forward.

Just after 3 a.am., a passerby called police after he discovered a man who appeared to have been struck and seriously injured by a vehicle on Kingsway near Glenn Drive.

The pedestrian, a 39-year-old Vancouver man, died shortly after being taken to hospital. Information gathered so far indicates that a vehicle was heading east on Kingsway when it struck the pedestrian and then left the scene. The driver has not been identified.

Investigators with the VPD’s Collison Investigation Unit believe the vehicle involved will have front-end damage, including a broken headlight.
