Vancouver Police investigates East Side attack on woman

VANCOUVER Police are investigating the daytime sexual assault of a woman on the city’s East Side on Thursday.

At about 11:30 a.m. on May 23, a lone female was waiting at a bus stop on 41st Avenue near Earles Street, when an unknown man approached her and struck up a conversation. The Asian woman, in her 20s, did not get on the bus, after realizing she had left something at home.

Investigators believe the man followed her south on Earles Street from the bus stop, walking with her to her residence, where he attacked and sexually assaulted her.

The woman was able to contact police after the suspect left.

The suspect is Asian, about 40 years old, with short black hair and an average build. He was wearing sunglasses, a white tank top, black shorts, and sandals.

Detectives from VPD’s Sex Crimes Unit are investigating, and want to speak with witnesses, or anyone with dash-cam video from the area. Anyone with information is asked to immediately call 604-717-0604, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
