Vancouver Police arrest man for theft of truck from St. Paul’s Hospital

VANCOUVER Police have arrested a 26-year-old man from Burnaby after a supply van was reported stolen from St. Paul’s Hospital on Friday morning.

“With the help of a tracking device on the van, police were able to track the vehicle to the area of Powell Street and Commercial Drive,” said Constable Tania Visintin. “Our patrol officers and canine unit worked swiftly to get the suspect in custody.”

Just before 1 a.m., Vancouver Police received information that a 2008 Pontiac Montana van was stolen from the underground parking lot at the hospital with the keys left in vehicle.

The suspect has been taken to jail. Charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and theft of an automobile have been recommended.

Police are reminding the public to call 9-1-1 if they see a crime in progress or suspicious activity.
