Two South Asians, including a ‘ragi’ in local gurdwara, arrested in “john” sting in Fairfield, California

HEADLINES US JOHN 1HARPAL Singh, 38, of Fairfield (near San Francisco), who is reported to be a ‘ragi’ in a local gurdwara, and Rupinder Samra, 43, of Woodland (near Sacramento) were among 28 men arrested by Fairfield Police Department in California last weekend and booked into the county jail for prostitution and prostitution loitering.

HEADLINES US JOHN 2On February 20 and 21, patrol officers and detectives assigned to the General Investigation Unit, Special Operations Team and Narcotic Investigation Unit conducted a “john” sting at various locations in the City of Fairfield. The Vacaville Police Department and the Suisun City Police Department assisted with the operation, according to a police press release.

Suspects involved in prostitution-related activities are commonly associated to various other crimes including but not limited to controlled substance violations, weapons offenses, pimping, robbery, assaults and property-related crimes. Oftentimes, women who are involved in prostitution, are victimized by these “johns”. “Johns” are also often times conducting prostitution-related activities with juvenile females. These criminal activities are directly related to human trafficking, police said.
