Chinese New Year at Township of Langley’s Muriel Arnason Library

ON February 17, Muriel Arnason Library celebrated its 10th annual Chinese New Year event. Around 300 people of all ages participated in the event and enjoyed the dance, music, a variety of crafts and coloring, and the New Year’s foods. Township of Langley Mayor Jack Froese, Councillor Kim Richter, and Councillor Petrina Arnason attended the event, and conveyed their Happy New Year wishes to the community.

The dancers from the Langley Chinese Arts and Cultural Association were very cute and amazing, and they performed the Dog Dance for Happy New Year, Rising Star of Peking opera, and I Love You China. Albert Ichiro Saguil was outstanding in performing the Free Style, and Neha added a lot of energy and excitement with her Punjabi folk dance Bhangra. Children enjoyed a variety of coloring and crafts by the ‘Empower Me’ team and the library staff.

At the end of the program, Community Librarian-Supervisor Dr. Sarwan Singh Randhawa wished everyone a Happy New Year, and thanked everyone.
