Tejwant Danjou, 69, of Surrey charged with murder in death of woman at West Kelowna hotel

A Surrey man has been charged in connection with the death of a woman at a West Kelowna hotel.

On July 22 (Sunday), at 7:18 p.m., police attended a hotel located in the 3400-block of Carrington Road in West Kelowna after being notified that a woman may be in need of assistance. Upon attendance, police located a dead woman in a hotel room. A man was arrested a short distance from the hotel and is in police custody.

Tejwant Danjou, 69, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the woman’s death.

The man and woman were known to each other and were from Surrey.

The Southeast District Major Crime Unit have taken conduct of the investigation.

Kelowna media reported that the victim was Rama Gauravarapu who was a financial planner at a Surrey Royal Bank branch.

A Kelowna court put off the hearing of the case to August 2. A bail hearing for Danjou will take place a later date.
