Suspicious occurrence in Surrey’s City Centre investigated

ON Thursday (March 22), at approximately 10:15 a.m., Surrey RCMP responded to the Canada Revenue Agency complex in the 9700-block of King George Boulevard after an employee received a threat. Officers cordoned off the area for the investigation and access to employee’s parking area was closed. Employees were not evacuated.
The area was searched and a suspicious object was located inside the parking garage. Further investigation confirmed that the object was not a threat to public safety. The investigation is on-going to determine if the suspicious object is linked to the threat.
Officers on scene were assisted by the BC RCMP Explosive Device Unit, the South Coast British Columbia Transit Authority Police Service, Surrey Fire Services, and BC Emergency Health Services.
Traffic was closed in the area along 134 Street between 96 and 98 Avenue during the occurrence, but is now open to regular traffic.
