Surrey RCMP to “Pack the Police Car” with food donations

Starting this Wednesday, December 12th the Surrey RCMP will be inviting the community to help “Pack the Police Car” with non-perishable food donations in support of the Surrey Food Bank.

Surrey RCMP will be on hand outside various Save-On-Foods and Price Smart Foods locations from December 12th, 2012 to December 24th, 2012 with a marked “Police Car” accepting food and cash donations to help families in need during the holidays.

WHERE: Save-On-Foods (3033 152nd Street), Save-On-Foods (100-7320 King George Boulevard), and Price Smart Foods (18710 Fraser Highway).
WHEN: December 12th, 2012 to December 24th, 2012

“We hope that the citizens of Surrey give generously and help us pack our police cars full of healthy meals to help the many families in need at this time of year,” says Surrey RCMP Insp. Garry Begg. “Our goal is to ensure that no one goes hungry this holiday season.”

The top 10 food items that are in demand by the Surrey Food Bank include:

1. Large cans of powdered Baby Formula
2. Canned Fish/Meat (e.g. tuna, ham, turkey)
3. Healthy Cereal (Hot or Cold)
4. Meals in a Tin (e.g. Pork n’ Beans or Stew)
5. Canned Vegetables
6. Canned Fruit
7. Wholegrain Pasta/Rice
8. Pasta Sauces
9. Canned and Dry Soups
10. Mac & Cheese
