Surrey RCMP seek witnesses to serious collision involving cyclist

SURREY RCMP are investigating a collision involving a cyclist which occurred on Tuesday, February 18 at approximately 9:25 p.m.

Police responded to a report that a man had been found injured in the 17900-block of Fraser Highway. He had been riding a bicycle, which had been modified with a gas engine, westbound on Fraser Highway and, at some point, appears to have collided with a metal pole. The 29-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he remains in serious condition. The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation.

Investigators believe there are witnesses to this collision who were in the area and have not yet spoken to police.

“We are not only seeking to speak to people who saw the impact of the collision, but anyone who may have witnessed the circumstances prior to the collision,” says Constable Richard Wright. “We are also asking for any available dash-cam or cell phone videos relating to this incident.”
