Surrey homicide is isolated targeted event not linked to gang conflict

ON Sunday (February 17) at approximately 2:15 p.m., Surrey RCMP officers attended a residence in the 13300-block of 105th Avenue after receiving a report of an assault. Investigators located an unconscious 60-year-old male with injuries consistent with foul play. The male was transported to hospital where he died from his injuries.

The area surrounding the scene remains cordoned off for an undetermined amount of time. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken conduct of the investigation and will be working in partnership with the Surrey RCMP.

Investigators do not believe this occurrence is linked to the Lower Mainland gang conflict and say it is an isolated targeted event with no risk to public safety.

Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase.
