Surrey celebrates Canada Day with Blue Rodeo and fireworks extravaganza

SURREY’S Canada Celebration will mark the country’s 148th birthday with festivities and entertainment including legendary Canadian artists, Blue Rodeo. This year’s celebration will be the largest Canada Day event in Western Canada with attendance expected to surpass 100,000 people.

When:            Wednesday, July 1

Time:              10 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.

                       1:30 p.m. – Grand March and opening remarks by Mayor Linda Hepner
9 p.m. – Blue Rodeo
10:15 p.m. – Fireworks

Where:           Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre
176 Street and 64th Avenue in Cloverdale

Opening for Blue Rodeo will be alternative artists, The Zolas; other Main Stage acts include newcomers Little India, and country music favourite, Me and Mae. Tragically Hip cover band, The Hip Show, and Zerbin will perform early evening, and this year’s fireworks musical mash-up will be crafted by BC DJ collectives, The Freshest.

Highlights include: free live entertainment; a half a million square feet of site area; an expanded Kids Play area; family fun for all ages; over 100 exhibitors; a free car giveaway from Surrey Honda; amusements with midway games and rides; and a spectacular fireworks show for the grand finale.
