Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal should not have cancelled his visit to Canada. This is the opinion of the majority of business community in Surrey. By cancelling his visit to Canada, Sukhbir Badal has sent a wrong message to pro-Khalistan groups here who believe Badal got scared and that is the reason he cancelled his visit.
Sukhbir Badal was to attend the Canada India Agriculture and Food Processing Forum 2012 that will take place in Vancouver on September 10-11 and later in Saskatoon on September 12-13. A reception had also been planned for Badal in Vancouver to meet local business and community members on September 10. But Badal has cancelled his visit in the wake of threats from pro-Khalistan faction in Canada.
The pro-Khalistan separatist faction which is still quite active in Canada and the US is seeing a moral victory for themselves in Badal cancelling his visit to Canada.
General Secretary of local Akali Dal here, Manjinder Singh Rana, says Sukhbir has not cancelled his visit but has postponed it.
