Sohan Singh Sidhu, 65, killed in motor vehicle incident in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD Emergency Services responded at 12:43 p.m. on Sunday to a report of a pedestrian who was struck by a trailer at the intersection of Simon Avenue and Gladwin Road.

Emergency services located an injured elderly man who had been travelling in the back of a dodge ram pick-up truck which had left from the Canada Day parade procession. The man had fallen from the pick-up truck and was struck by a trailer it was pulling. He was transported to hospital by BC Ambulance Service with serious injuries. The passenger later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the pick-up truck remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The trailer had the banner of “Indo-Canadian Seniors Society,” according to a CTV report.

The deceased was identified as Sohan Singh Sidhu, 65, by his family to CTV. He had been here on a visit from India since mid-April.

Abbotsford Police Department Patrol Officers, General Investigation Officers and Collision Reconstructionists are investigating.

Names of the victim will not be released at this time, police said.
