Slain Surrey woman’s husband charged with second-degree murder

ON October 19, Rizig Bona, 44, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the death of his wife, Anida Magaya, 42.

On October 5, at about 1:51 a.m., emergency services received a report of an injured female at a residence in the 16100-block of 110th Avenue in Surrey. When police arrived, they found Magaya dead inside the home with injuries consistent with homicide. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called in to take over the investigation.

Detectives quickly determined that this was an isolated incident and there was no risk to public safety.

IHIT and its partners collected and compiled all the evidence for charge approval consideration to crown counsel. On October 19,  Bona was arrested and charged with Magaya’s murder.

“This was a tragic isolated incident involving members of the same family and our deepest condolences go out to the family of Anida Magaya,” said IHIT Cpl. Frank Jang.

Anyone with information, who has yet to come forward to police, is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
