Sixth pedestrian fatality this year in Vancouver

VANCOUVER Police are investigating a collision between a pick-up truck and a pedestrian that claimed the life of an 83-year-old Vancouver woman on Wednesday.

Just after 11:30 a.m. on November 7, the woman was walking across East 30th Avenue along the east side of Main Street when a black pick-up truck, making a right turn onto Main Street, struck her at a low speed. Paramedics took the woman to hospital where she died a short time later.

The driver of the truck is cooperating with investigators.

This is the city’s sixth pedestrian fatality of 2018.

VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit is asking anyone with dash-cam footage, who may have been driving in the area on Wednesday between 11:20 and 11:40 a.m. to contact them at 604-717-3012.
