Seizure of 44.7 kg of suspected cocaine leads to arrest of trucker at Queenston Bridge

DhaTHE Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) on Wednesday announced the arrest of an Ontario resident after an alleged attempt to smuggle 44.7 kg of suspected cocaine into Canada at the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge in Queenston, Ontario.

On June 1, border services officers (BSO) referred a truck driven by a 57-year-old male, for a secondary examination. While conducting the search, officers discovered a package in a side compartment of the truck.

An examination of the package resulted in the discovery of 43 bricks of suspected cocaine with a combined total weight of approximately 44.7 kg. The BSO seized the suspected cocaine, arrested the individual and contacted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who took custody of the drugs and the individual.
