“Can You See Us Port Moody?” brings together a group of artists, with various abilities and disabilities, from BC and across Canada. These artists and artworks address disability in a variety of ways, and some not at all. Not all artists with disabilities want to address this in their work.

One of the most important things Kickstart can do is put artists with disabilities at the forefront of art and culture because this puts the artist first, and let’s them speak first hand of their own creative experiences.

Kickstart is a Vancouver-based registered charitable non-profit society, founded in 1998, with a mandate to support and promote artists with disabilities. We do this by presenting professional work by artists with disabilities to public audiences, raising public awareness of their contribution to the arts, and paying the artists for their work. Our projects present authentic interpretations of the disability experience from the perspective of persons who live with disabilities.
