ROOPESH Rajkumar, 41, who has been charged with the first-degree murder of his 11-year-old daughter, Riya, is in hospital due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Peel Regional Police announced on Sunday.

As a result of those injuries the SIU was contacted and have since determined that they will not be invoking their mandate.

Rajkumar has since been remanded into the custody of Ontario Correctional Services. His court appearance is pending being medically cleared to attend.
