THE City of Surrey will host its eighth annual Party for the Planet, BC’s largest Earth Day celebration, at Surrey Civic Plaza on Saturday, April 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The signature Surrey event will feature an intimate matinee headline performance by Canadian rock singer-songwriter and five-time Juno award winner Sam Roberts at 3:15 p.m.

Presented by TD, this year’s free festival will also include multiple performances by Vancouver-based children’s musical duo Bobs & Lolo. Additional entertainers include Vancouver’s up and coming pop and R&B group Star Captains, DJ and production group The Freshest, children’s entertainers Rockin’ Robin, the Colin Bullock Duo and the Smile Band.

“We are excited to host Canadian music icon Sam Roberts as our first ever matinee headliner at Party for the Planet,” said Surrey Mayor Linda Hepner. “This year we have scheduled our headline act so it is more accessible to families and attendees as they visit the various environmental and educational exhibits throughout the day. We invite everyone to come out and learn about the City of Surrey’s many ongoing sustainability initiatives while experiencing exceptional Canadian entertainment in celebration of Earth Day.”

“TD has been investing in Surrey in meaningful ways and for the past seven years has been the proud presenting sponsor of Party for the Planet, BC’s largest Earth Day celebration,” said Mauro Manzi, senior vice president, TD Bank Group. “TD has been committed to giving back to the City of Surrey, like through the annual TD Tree Day events or the recent gift to develop Forsyth Park in Surrey City Centre in celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday. We are looking forward to celebrating with Surrey again in April as part of this milestone year.”

Additional festival attractions include the annual tree and plant sale, a rock climbing wall, bike powered smoothie stop, storytelling, kid’s eco-crafts, road hockey, an urban farmers market, food trucks and a variety of local vendors.
