Richmond’s JN Burnett Secondary School students donate PPE items

CHRIS Lam, a grade 12 student at Richmond’s JN Burnett Secondary School, and fellow Robotics Club members have been very busy producing 3D printed Ear Savers and Protective Face Shields since COVID-19 was declared a pandemic. Thus far the students have generously donated over 300 of these highly coveted, PPE items.

Lam explains:”With the support of the school, we have donated over 300 EarSavers and Face Shields to many organizations including local care-homes, Richmond Hospital, Vancouver General Hospital, Coast Mountain Bus Company, and several care home locations in Manitoba. “

He adds: “This could not have been possible without the support of The Richmond SD38 Superintendent, Ms. Walker (Burnett Principal), Mr. Bevan (Teacher/Robotics Club Teacher Sponsor), Adriano Carvalheiro-Nune, Sean Uy, Burnett staff, and any other district staff who gathered all the printers and filament for this project.”

Lam says: “We are in need of clear PETG sheets (0.03″ thick) or clear polycarbonate sheets (0.01″-0.03″ thick), PETG filament (2.85mm).”
