Richmond Table Tennis Coach Wins National Titles

Richmond Olympic Oval Table Tennis Centre of Excellence coach Mo Zhang has proven that those who teach can in fact still do after her table tennis singles and doubles wins at the 2013 Butterfly Canadian Championships.
Zhang was crowned National Champion after defeating Ontario’s Anqi Luo to capture the Women’s Singles title. She also partnered with her British Columbia teammate, Shirley Fu, to win the Women’s Doubles draw.

Zhang won a total of eight straight matches – four singles and four doubles – in the three day tournament which took place in Halifax, Nova Scotia from July 8-14. Zhang is a two-time Canadian Olympian, most recently competing at the 2012 Summer Games in London and finishing in 33rd place, improving on her 49th place finish in Beijing in 2008. She has also won singles gold medals three times (2009, 2010, 2011) at the North American Championships.
