THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) on Tuesday identified Monday’s homicide victims in Richmond as 36-year-old Keri Smith and 37-year-old Terrence Peter Smith.

On April 30, just after 2:30 a.m., the Richmond RCMP received a report of gunshots at a residence in the 6600-block of Eckersley Road.  Police found two deceased victims inside the home.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called in to investigate.

IHIT said the names of the victims were being released in order to further the ongoing investigation.  Keri and Terrence Smith recently moved to the Richmond area from Surrey.  They also have ties to the Vernon area of B.C.  Both victims were known to police and investigators believe this was a targeted incident.  Police said they are working to determine a motive.

IHIT continues to work closely with the Richmond RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Service and the B.C. Coroners Service to advance the investigation.

“Anyone who was in the area of the 6600-block of Eckersley Road during the overnight period of April 30th is asked to contact IHIT,” said IHIT Cpl. Frank Jang.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
