THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is seeking public assistance to further its investigation into the homicide of 37-year-old Michael Thompson of Richmond who was known to police.

On September 20, just after 8:30 a.m., the Richmond RCMP responded to an abandoned residence in the 9000-block of Odlin Road after a man’s body was discovered inside the building. The man’s death was deemed suspicious and IHIT was called in to take conduct of the investigation.

IHIT continues to work closely with the Richmond RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the B.C. Coroners Service to collect evidence. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

“The investigation is in its early stages and it is unknown if this incident was targeted,” said IHIT Cpl. Frank Jang. “IHIT is releasing Mr. Thompson’s name to garner information from the community regarding his activities leading up to his death.”
