Red Cross collecting donations to support residents of Maple Ridge fire

The Canadian Red Cross is collecting donations to help support Maple Ridge residents, many of them elderly, who were left homeless by the devastating fire on December 14. Approximately 19 people were impacted by the fire.

People wishing to help residents get back on their feet are encouraged to make a financial donation to the Canadian Red Cross. Financial contributions are greatly appreciated as they provide the most flexible, fast and efficient way of supporting those affected by the fire.

Working with the District of Maple Ridge Emergency Social Services and local agencies including the Salvation Army, Red Cross Disaster Management volunteers are meeting with residents to assess their situation, provide them with goods and/or services to meet their immediate and ongoing needs, to link them to appropriate agencies and to provide a listening ear.

Financial donations can be made by calling 604-709-6600 or mailing a cheque to the Lower Mainland Red Cross office at 3400 Lake City Way, Burnaby, B.C., V5A 4Y2. Please make cheques payable to “The Canadian Red Cross” and earmark it to “B.C. Response Fund—Maple Ridge Fire.” The Canadian Red Cross Health Equipment Loan location in Maple Ridge at 5 – 11435 201A St, will also be accepting donations during their operating hours—Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:30 to 4 p.m.
