PROF. Mohan Singh Memorial Foundation of Canada held a public meeting in Surrey to remember and mourn cultural icon Jagdev Singh Jassowal who passed away Monday in Ludhiana, Punjab.

Sahib Singh Thind, President of Prof. Mohan Singh Memorial Foundation (Canada), expressed profound grief over the death of the ambassador of Punjabi literature, culture, heritage and arts, stating that “we have lost a friend and a mentor” who will be missed not only in Canada but also around the world.

Thind noted that it was “Jassowal sahib who was instrumental in establishing the Prof. Mohan Singh Memorial Foundation of Canada in 1990.” He attended the ‘Gadri Babian da Mela’ a couple of times as a guest of the Foundation.

NDP MP Jasbir Sandhu, former MP Sukh Dhaliwal, former MLA Dr. Gulzar Cheema and many prominent community members also expressed their grief at the passing of Jagdev Singh Jassowal. Many shared their interaction with Jassowal ji.
