Delta Police looking for witnesses in theft of more than 2,500 cases of beer

This red semi truck was used to steal a trailer full of beer.

A trucking company is missing more than 2,500 cases of Coors Light beer after the trailer containing the beer was stolen off a property in the 600-block of Aldford Avenue on January 20.

“Surveillance footage shows a red semi-truck enter the lot, and hook up to the trailer containing the beer at approximately 11:45 a.m. January 20,” says Cris Leykauf, public affairs coordinator for Delta Police. “Based on the company’s GPS tracking systems, we know the trailer was then driven to the 8000-block of Blundell Road in Richmond, approximately half an hour later.”

The trailer was discovered empty mid-afternoon in Richmond on January 21, at which time the theft was reported to police. The 2,592 missing cases of beer are valued at approximately $155,000.

“This is definitely an unusual theft,” says Leykauf. “We’re asking that anyone who may have seen some noteworthy activity, or perhaps is aware of some odd circumstances around the sale of beer to contact Delta Police at 604-946-4411.”
