Parm Gill is now Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade

PARM Gill, who was Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Veterans Affairs, has been appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper made the announcement on Friday.

Parm Gill was first named parliamentary secretary in 2013.

Parliamentary secretaries are Members of Parliament who are appointed by the Governor in Council on the recommendation of the Prime Minister to assist cabinet ministers with their parliamentary duties. Under the direction of their ministers, parliamentary secretaries handle routine matters in the House of Commons, engage in committee work, and assume some extra-parliamentary responsibilities.

Also, Gerald Keddy, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Revenue and for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, assumed an additional responsibility as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture.

Pierre Lemieux, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture, was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Veterans Affairs.

 

PARM Gill (Brampton-Springdale, Ontario) was first elected to the House of Commons in 2011. He was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade in January 2015.  Previously, he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Veterans Affairs in September 2013.

Gill has served on the Standing Committees on Canadian Heritage, Health, Procedure and House Affairs, and on Public Safety and National Security. He has been involved in organizations such as the Peel Regional Police, Toys-for-Tots, Champions 4 Change, Salvation Army, Family Life Resource Centre, Amar Karma Organ Donation Society, Canadian Cancer Society, and the Canadian Eye Sight International.

Gill resides in Brampton with his wife Amarpal, their two sons, Raman and Daman, and their daughter Parmeet.
