Pakistan Canada Association celebrates Pakistan’s Republic Day on Saturday

THIS Saturday (March 28), the Pakistan Canada Association is celebrating Pakistan’s Republic Day that commemorates the passing of the Lahore Resolution on March 23, 1940, that led to the Independence of Pakistan in 1947 and the formal declaration of Pakistan as an Islamic Republic on March 23, 1956.

Pakistan Canada Association was established in 1963 and has for over 50 years represented the Pakistani-Canadian community with programs and services benefitting them. It manages the historic first mosque in British Columbia, The Al Jamia Masjid Vancouver.

A short formal program highlighting community volunteerism, youth involvement, recent political events in Pakistan and the direction of the Pakistani community in B.C. coupled with musical performances will highlight the event. There will be a gourmet buffet dinner as well as a children’s area.

Pakistan’s Consul General Dr. Muhammed Tariq will be the chief guest. There is a special meet and greet program with legendary Pakistan folk singer Arif Lohar.
