Overnight shooting in Coquitlam does not appear to be random, say RCMP

21-year-old Richmond man shot

ALTHOUGH it is early in the investigation, Coquitlam RCMP investigators say they do not believe that a shooting near the corner of Foster Avenue and Aspen Street in Coquitlam was random.

Police were called at about 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday (April 10) when witnesses heard a series of gunshots and saw two cars speeding away. Shortly afterward, a 21-year-old man from Richmond checked himself into hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Investigators are still looking for suspects.

The victim, and some witnesses who were in close proximity to the shooting, have been less than fully cooperative, but investigators are optimistic that members of the public will be able to provide more helpful information.

If you saw something or heard something, or have any information that may help this investigation, call the Coquitlam RCMP non-emergency number at 604-945-1550 and ask for the Investigative Support Team (file 2018-10844).
