One person dead in targeted Surrey shooting

ONE person is dead following what police believe was a targeted shooting in the 6700-block of 130th Street in Surrey just before 2 p.m. on Thursday (October 11).

Surrey RCMP were called to the area after a report of a shooting was received. Police found an adult victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite all attempts to revive the individual, the person succumbed to their injuries.

Police said that based on their investigative theory in this initial phase, this does not appear to be a random act.

The area surrounding the scene will be cordoned off for a significant amount of time. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in and will be working in partnership with the Surrey RCMP.

Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase, no further information will be provided at this time.
