One dead in rollover collision along Highway 1

RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the circumstances surrounding a rollover collision that claimed a life along Highway 1 near Langley early Monday morning.

On May 25, at approximately 2:30 a.m., RCMP Fraser Valley Traffic Services and the Langley RCMP received a report of a single vehicle rollover collision along Highway 1 near 26th Street. Preliminary findings at the scene suggest that the silver Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck had been travelling in the westbound lanes when it veered off the roadway and into the ditch where it struck multiple trees before coming to final rest.

Emergency crews were required to extricate a woman who was trapped inside the wreckage. She and another male occupant of the vehicle were rushed to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services in critical condition.

However, a third occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The BC Coroners Service has been notified and is also investigating the man’s sudden death.

“Investigators are now working to positively identify the deceased,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, spokesperson for the BC RCMP. “Once he has been identified, our priority will be to properly notify the man’s family.”

The police investigation remains ongoing at this time being led by RCMP Fraser Valley Traffic Services that is seeking witnesses to the collision or events leading up to the collision. The RCMP Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services (ICARS) has been called upon to fully examine the crash scene.
