NRA calls for armed security in all US schools

The National Rifle Association has broken its silence one week after the Newtown elementary school massacre.

Executive VP Wayne LaPierre is blaming the media for misinforming the public and making the shooting seem worse than it was. “There exists, sadly, a calloused and corrupting shadow industry that sells… violence against its own people.”

He says news reports continue to push the idea if there were a ban on assault rifles, everyone would be safe.

LaPierre has a solution that he thinks will help prevent the next killer, who he adds could be waiting in the wings, from doing any harm. “I call on Congress today to put armed police officers in every school in this nation — and to do it now.”

“The only way to stop a monster from killing our kids is to be personally involved and invested in a plan of absolute protection,” he adds.

“The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,” maintains LaPierre.
