Nairobi airport reopens after big fire

NAIROBI: An official in Kenya has said that Nairobi’s main airport has reopened for domestic and cargo flights following a huge fire on Wednesday that destroyed the airport’s international arrivals hall.

Michael Kamau, cabinet secretary for transport and infrastructure, said plans are under way to change another of the airport’s units into an international terminal so those flights can resume as well.

Wednesday’s early-morning fire raged for more than four hours before it was brought under control. No serious injuries were reported.
