Man shot dead in targeted hit in South Surrey; vehicle set on fire

SURREY RCMP on Thursday announced that they were investigating two incidents that had resulted in road closures in South Surrey.

12th Avenue was closed between 184th Street and 176th Street, while police investigate a report of a suspicious death.

28th Avenue was closed between 184th Street and 188th Street, while police and fire crews attended to a vehicle fire.

That vehicle fire could be connected to the dead person.

About 9 p.m. on Thursday, Surrey RCMP issued a press release to say that the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team had assumed conduct of the suspicious death investigation.

Surrey RCMP said that just after 3:30 p.m., they were called to 12th Avenue between 176th Street and 184th Street after a report of a suspicious death was received.  Police located a dead adult.

The area surrounding the scene was cordoned off and IHIT were called in. They will be working in partnership with the Surrey RCMP.

IHIT said in a tweet that the death appeared targeted.

Police are currently in the evidence gathering phase.
