South Asian man killed in Delta collision

 

AT approximately 2:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Delta Police received a report of a collision between a car and a semi-truck on Delta Port Way near Arthur Drive.
Delta Police said on Wednesday that initial indications were that the car travelling eastbound on Delta Port crossed into the westbound lanes going head on into the path of a semi-truck.
The driver of the car, a 40-year-old man from Surrey, died while en route to hospital. Next of kin were notified and Delta Police Victim Services were called to assist family.
The VOICE has learned that the victim was Steve Malli, a longshoreman. He leaves behind his wife, two small kids, mother and brother.
The driver of the semi, although not physically injured, was transported to hospital suffering from shock.
Delta Police Traffic Section members and collision analyst are trying to determine the circumstances that led to the collision.
