In the wake of the tragedy in Connecticut, the Khalsa Diwan Society of Abbotsford sends its deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the families and communities affected by the shootings.

A tragedy such as this sends tremors worldwide and emotionally shakes those that hear of such senseless violence. To help cope and process the pain of this tragedy, we at the Khalsa Diwan Society are organizing weeklong prayers through a continuous reading of the Sikh Holy Scriptures, the Sri Guru Granth Sahib. The prayers begin Tuesday December 18th, and will conclude Sunday, December 23rd. The conclusion of the reading will be marked by Sunday services, with singing of hyms, discourses and Guru Ka Langar (vegetarian lunch).

DATE: Sunday, December 23, 2012
TIME: 10:30 AM
LOCATION: Khalsa Diwan Society, Abbotsford, 33094 South Fraser Way, Abbotsford, British Columbia, V2S 2A9

The week long prayers of hope and healing will represent the community’s commitment to love and peace and its intent to help ensure tragedies such as the Connecticut shooting never occur again. This will be a gathering to reflect on the tragedy, show support for the victims, and demonstrate that all Canadians stand united against hate.
