Jason Bains of Khalsa Wrestling Club and Navdeep Toor of Miri Piri Wrestling Club qualify for Cadets Pan Am Championships

JASON Bains of Khalsa Wrestling Club and Navdeep Toor of Miri Piri Wrestling Club have qualified for the prestigious Cadets Pan Am Championships in Mexico after winning the first place in their respective weight categories in Men Cadet FILA Trials at the 2015 ASICS Cadet / Juvenile Canadian Wrestling Championships held recently at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton.

Bains came first in the 100 kg weight category.

Toor came first in the 54 kg weight category.

Both Bains and Toor have also qualified for the World Championships to be held in August in Russia, Miri Piri Wrestling Club’s head coach Sucha Mann told The VOICE.

Other South Asian B.C. wrestlers: Manraj Kahlon (Khalsa) came third in the 85 kg weight category and Navdeep Dhillon came second in the 58 kg weight category.

 

IN Men’s Freestyle Cadet Men’s Championships, the Club Team Award went to B.C.’s Guru Gobind Singh Wrestling Club.

South Asian wrestlers from B.C. who won the first three places:

* Jaskaran Gakhal (Guru Gobind Singh WC) – Gold in 54 kg weight category

* Eknoor Bajwa (Abby WC) – Silver in 58 kg weight category

* Gurjot Gill (Rustom WC) – Bronze in 76 kg weight category

* Karam Shergill (Guru Gobind Singh WC) – Gold in 115 kg weight category

 

IN Men’s Freestyle Juvenile Men’s Championships, South Asian wrestlers from B.C. who won the first three places:

* Navdeep Toor (Miri Piri WC) – Silver in 54 kg weight category

* Navdeep Dhillon (Abby WC) – Silver in 58 kg weight category

* Ramandeep Khehira (Guru Gobind Singh WC) – Silver in 85 kg weight category

* Nishanpreet Randhawa (Guru Gobind Singh WC) – Gold in 100 kg weight category

* Jason Bains (Khalsa WC) – Silver in 100 kg weight category.

 

MEANWHILE, Arjun Gill won a bronze medal in the 97 kg category at the Senior Pan Am Championships in Santiago, Chile, last weekend:
