JASMIT Phulka (holding a bouquet) won Canada’s only gold medal at the Sassari International Tournament in Sassary, Italy, in his 74 kg category last weekend. He received a hearty welcome at the Vancouver International Airport by his dad Harjit Phulka, uncle Amarjit Phulka, his coach Sucha Mann and relatives and friends.  Jasmit, 24, graduated from Rick Hansen High School’s and has been wrestling since grade 4 with Abbotsford’s Miri Piri Wrestling Club under famous head coach Sucha Mann, who led the school’s Hurricane wrestling team to three consecutive provincial championships. Jasmit won all his four matches, defeating Spain’s Jonathan Alvarez in the semi-final and Korea’s Shin Jie Woon in the final.
