Langley RCMP take over investigation of shooting on Highway 1 on Wednesday night

LANGLEY RCMP announced on Thursday that they have now taken conduct of the shooting incident that occurred on Highway 1 at approximately 10:27  p.m. on Wednesday (September 6).
Police said the initial investigation has revealed that shots were fired from a 1994 or 1995 four-door black Acura into a white Jeep while both vehicles were travelling westbound on Highway 1 between 200th Street and 192nd Street.

The driver of the Jeep was able to drive to the area of 96th Avenue and 176th Street and await assistance before being taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect vehicle was last seen westbound on Highway 1. Officers have located and seized a possible suspect vehicle and are continuing with a number of investigative steps.

Cpl. Holly Largy said: “This investigation is still in its early stages, however, Langley RCMP can confirm that this was a targeted incident that is related to the ongoing Lower Mainland drug conflicts.”

The Surrey RCMP are continuing to support the Langley detachment on this file.
