India will join Croatia and Canada to light up the sky at 2019 Honda Celebration of Light

PERFORMING for the first time in Vancouver, India and Croatia are set to take to the skies above Metro Vancouver Saturday, July 27 and Saturday, August 3 respectively, while fan favourite, Canada, returns Wednesday, July 31, at the Honda Celebration of Light that is the world’s longest running offshore fireworks competition.

“Back for its 29th year, the Honda Celebration of Light will once again set the sky above Vancouver aglow. This event is a wonderful opportunity for families and communities to come together to enjoy three nights under the stars celebrating community and culture. It’s always a momentous occasion when hundreds of thousands of people gather in one place; especially this year with the return of team Canada, not to mention the anticipation behind what newcomers Croatia and India will present,” said Yuri Fulmer and Michael McKnight, co-chairs of the Vancouver Fireworks Festival Society, on Tuesday.
“The Honda Celebration of Light is a terrific way for families and friends to spend time together while experiencing the sensational musical fireworks that set aglow Vancouver’s magnificent skyline,” said Lisa Beare, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture. “This world-class international festival offers an array of activities while generating positive social and economic returns for Vancouver and the people who live there.”

“Each and every year the Honda Celebration of Light brings so much joy and excitement to Vancouver, and there is no question that this year will be any different. With an incredible lineup of participating countries and a host of wonderful activities for the public to enjoy, the fireworks will once again be a highlight for our city this summer,” said Kennedy Stewart, Mayor of Vancouver. “Celebrating 29 years in Vancouver, this popular summer festival is a wonderful platform to showcase our city on the world stage.”

“For the past 50 years, Honda Canada has been committed to supporting families and communities across Canada. We are happy to help spark friendly competition at such an inclusive, family-oriented event that creates lasting memories across generations of families,” said Jean Marc Leclerc, Senior Vice President, Honda Canada Inc. “Honda will be cheering on all the teams as they light the skies this summer.”

“The Park Board is pleased to again support this premier summer event, which allows residents and visitors to experience stunning fireworks displays at our beaches and parks. Public safety and the well-being of spectators and West End residents is our top priority,” said Vancouver Park Board Chair Stuart Mackinnon. “As in past years, Park Board and City staff will clean up our beaches, parks and seawalls the morning after each firework show. We ask all visitors to our parks and beaches to use litter and recycling bins or to take their garbage home.”
