Whistler RCMP was called to the hotel just after 3 a.m. on Tuesday.

This was not a targeted attack however there is no risk to the public in relation to this incident, says IHIT Sgt. Stephanie Ashton.

Whistler RCMP said police were dispatched to a local hotel for a complaint involving an adult male.

“When members arrived, the adult male was observed to be unresponsive and in medical distress and first aid was administered. That person was later pronounced dead at hospital,” police said.

They added: “Given the attendance of police this set of circumstances warranted IIOBC [Independent Investigations Office of BC] notification. They have been advised accordingly.”
