Drive-by shooting in Abbotsford on Sunday night

ON Sunday, May 13 at 11:53 pm, the Abbotsford Police Department responded to a report of possible shots fired in the 2100-block of Emmerson Street. Patrol officers arrived in the area and identified a residence as the location of a confirmed drive-by shooting. The home received exterior damage. However, the four occupants in the residence were not injured.

Constable Jody Thomas told The VOICE on Monday that at this time police do not believe the shooting is associated to the Townline Hill conflict. The Townline Hill conflict involves two groups of South Asians fighting over drug turf.

Patrol officers, with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service, conducted neighborhood canvasses and searched the area for any persons or possible vehicles that may have been involved. Witnesses reported seeing a dark colored SUV with a silver stripe on the side fleeing the area. The motive for this incident is unclear at this time.

APD Forensic Identification officers continue to collect forensic and video evidence. The APD Major Crime Unit has assumed this investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225, text them at 222973 (abbypd), or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
