AS had been suspected, the poll showing Surrey mayoral candidate Linda Hepner leading was apparently biased and distorted. The research company that conducted that poll was hired by Hepner’s Surrey First team.

On Tuesday, the findings of a new Mainstreet Technologies poll of Surrey voters were released and they show that Doug McCallum is leading in the Surrey mayoral race with Linda Hepner coming in a close second.

The poll found McCallum with 22% support, Hepner at 20% and Barinder Rasode at 8%.

Forty-five percent of respondents were undecided, while 5% would vote for someone else. The poll had a margin of error of +/- 2.46%.

Among decided voters, McCallum is ahead of Hepner by 5%, 41% to 36%. With Rasode, McCallum is ahead by 14%. Nine percent of decided voters would vote for someone else.

“DOUG McCallum is leading the race at this stage with a relatively high number of undecided voters” said Mainstreet Technologies President, Quito Maggi. “Rasode is in third, since her late entry into the race she has not picked up much momentum but there is still an opportunity to grow. All campaigns must work hard to capture the attention of voters.”

‘Right now this is a two way race between McCallum and Hepner, but with so many voters on this fence no one is out of the running yet,” he noted.

HEPNER is losing credibility with decent Surrey residents who were first shocked at how her Surrey first shamelessly jumped the gun by erecting their election signs a day BEFORE what was permitted by the City of Surrey’s political signs guideline that states: “Installation: Signs may be erected after the close of the nomination period (October 10, 2014).”

When one of our readers approached the volunteers and told them that they were violating the guidelines, they arrogantly told him: “We are doing this for Surrey First – THEY are the law!”

After The VOICE broke the story, CKNW’s Drez Live really ripped into Surrey First as they had Surrey First’s campaign manager insist they had written permission from the City’s Chief Electoral Officer – while she told CKNW she had NOT given any written permission.

And as CKNW noted, why have guidelines if you are NOT going to follow them?

What a poor example Hepner has already set – and she is supposed to be a seasoned Councillor who wants to be the next mayor!

And this week, she came out with her biased poll – and now her credibility has been hit further as the Mainstreet Technologies poll has shown that that poll was distorted.
