Delta Police hitting the Streets this Weekend with Annual Counter Attack Road Roadblocks

In keeping with the strategic goal of having the Safest Streets in BC, the Delta Police Department is once again working in partnership with ICBC to increase safety on our highways during this Holiday Season. The Delta Police Department will kick off the annual Drinking and Driving Counter Attack Program beginning this weekend and will continue through until January 1st, 2013. During these roadblocks, which will be set up throughout Delta, police will be conducting checks to detect drinking and driving offences, but will also be targeting offences related to speed, and seatbelt violations.

Delta Police will be visible in drinking establishments, and will be conducting roving patrols near and around these premises to create an awareness of police presence, which will serve as a reminder for patrons to not drink then drive. Delta Police are encouraging everyone to plan for safe rides home, and to utilize designated driving programs, taxi’s and transit.

The Delta Police Department would like to take this opportunity to ask for the cooperation of all motorists to drive responsibly to ensure that we all have a safe and happy Holiday Season.
