SURREY RCMP have arrested and charged David Yaroslawsky, 37, of Surrey in connection to two bank robberies in the Guildford area.

On June 5, at approximately 12 p.m., Surrey RCMP frontline officers responded to a report of a robbery at a financial institution in the 15900-block of 108th Avenue.  The suspect was described as a white male wearing a blue hoody and a baseball cap and sunglasses. He left the area in a black GMC pick-up truck.

A few days later, on June 10, at approximately 7:30 p.m., police received a report of a robbery at another financial institution in the 15900-block of Fraser Highway.  The suspect was described as a white male wearing all black.

Investigators from the Surrey RCMP Robbery Unit took conduct of both investigations and were able to identify a single suspect for both occurrences. Police attended the male’s residence where they arrested the suspect and seized the GMC pick-up truck along with other supporting evidence from the robberies.

Yaroslawsky has been charged with two counts of robbery.  He remains in custody and the investigation continues.

“People who work in our community do not expect a robbery to occur when they attend work, and this can be very shocking and upsetting to some,” said Inspector Beth McAndie, Surrey RCMP Serious Crimes Senior Investigator. “Crimes against individuals are of the utmost importance for the Surrey RCMP to investigate, and we hope the victims in these occurrences can take some comfort knowing the individual responsible has been arrested and charged.”
