Surrey RCMP caution parents after three-year-old child falls through window

SURREY RCMP are once again advising parents to be vigilant after a three-year-old child fell through the window. Children can easily fall through the screens on the windows that are left open because of the warm weather, and serious injury can occur easily.
On Sunday (July 16), Surrey RCMP were advised by the B.C. Ambulance Service that they had received a call of a small child who had fallen out a window at a residence in the 13900-block of 64 A Avenue. Officers found the child being treated by members of the Surrey Fire Department. The three-year-old child had been inside the residence, and leaned or fallen against an open window, which had a screen in it. The screen had given way, and the child fell through the second-story window and landed on the patio below. There were a number of family members in the residence when the incident had occurred, but no one was close enough to grab the child before she fell. The child was transported to hospital where she was kept for observation. The Ministry of Children and Family Services was advised and will be following up with the family.
