THE Leader of the Official Opposition Andrew Wilkinson (B.C. Liberals) released the following statement on the month of Ramadan:

“On behalf of the BC Liberal caucus, it is an honour to welcome the month of Ramadan at sunset this evening.

“Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic year, during which the Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. During this month, thousands of Muslims throughout British Columbia will be adhering to a period of fasting, prayer and devotion. The month is a reflection on the values of patience, empathy, self-discipline, and charity.

“All of the values exemplified by Ramadan are imperative to the vibrancy of our province, and to our social and economic future.

“I wish the Muslim community best wishes, peace and happiness during this special month.

“Ramadan Mubarak!”
