A post on her Facebook last week hinted that Surrey Councillor Barinder Rasode will officially announce she’s running for Surrey mayor on September 20, thus ending speculation and all kinds of rumours about what she was really planning to do.
Sources confirmed that she will make the announcement next week.
The post stated: “Here we go! You’re invited to a celebration of our great city.” It adds at the bottom: “September 20 at 1pm / SFU Surrey Grand Hall 13450 – 102nd Avenue, Surrey.”
So far, only Surrey First candidate Councillor Linda Hepner and former mayor Doug McCallum have announced their candidacy. Once Rasode makes her official announcement, expect to see a raft of polls asking Surrey residents who they will vote for.
The last poll featured only Hepner and McCallum and showed McCallum leading. With Rasode’s official announcement, the picture will become clearer.
