Children’s Food and Toy Drive

 

Join us in our third year of the Jarnail Singh Food and Toy Drive. Last year we raised over $100,000 in food and toys for the Surrey Food Bank and the Vancouver Children’s Hospital making it one of the largest organized efforts towards donating food and toys for the less fortunate. Hope you can come and contribute to this good cause on Sunday, December 2 between 12 and 4 p.m. at Bollywood Banquet Hall, # 201 8166 128th Street, Surrey.

 

South Asian Seniors: Bingo

 

Vedic Seniors Parivar Centre of Vedic Hindu Cultural Society Surrey invites South Asian adults / senior members as well as non-members to come and play bingo for the sake of entertainment and make some new friends, on Sunday, December 2, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., at Shanti Niketan Hall, 8321 140th Street, Surrey. Santa to visit Delta Libraries

 

Introduce children to the love of books and language with a festive Christmas Storytime. Vancouver Christmas Market

 

The Vancouver Christmas Market officially opened last week at Jack Poole Plaza (at the Olympic Cauldron), and runs until December 24 with more than 80 huts stuffed with sweets, treats, and treasures. The Vancouver Christmas Market’s Children’s Wish Week runs until December 7 in hopes of raising 10K to make Maddi’s holiday wish come true. Nine-year-old Maddi was diagnosed with both Sottos Syndrome and Cancer. However, after enduring treatment, Maddi is now stable and her greatest wish is to visit Disney World with her family. The Children’s Wish Weeks schedule includes: * Tuesday, December 4: Foodie Tuesday – a chance to try more for less featuring bites and beverages from select vendors that are $4 and under. * Wednesday, December 5: Deluxe Date Nigh – enjoy 2-for-1 entry at the gate as well as ‘deals for duos’ including 2-for-1 carousel rides, pretzels, ciders, and other paired discounts at select vendors. * Friday, December 7: Canucks Defenseman Erik Gudbranson visits the Market (5-6:30 p.m.) – Gudbranson will be on site to help raise $10,000 to make a deserving child’s Christmas wish come true. Visitors who provide a donation to Children’s Wish Foundation will have the chance to go head-to-head with Erik as they try to score against him.

Ghirra Family: 12th Annual Toy Drive

 

Benevolent Brotherhood Society is helping Ghirra Family, the Cooperators Insurance agencies and Vancity Credit union to organize a toy drive in memory of Victor Ghirra. Over 25,000 toys collected and distributed to more than two dozen charities. Bring new and unwrapped toys to Riverside Banquet Hall, 14500 River Road, Richmond, all the Cooperators Insurance agencies in the Lower Mainland, and all participating Vancity Credit Union locations in the Lower Mainland.
